This journal collects discussions and critiques of films and filmmakers. Many articles provide an in-depth analysis of one or several cinemas, which offer me a chance to understand the meanings of these films in interesting aspects. Besides, the articles of directors were written by scholars and journalists in different countries, which I think would be very beneficial to read for learning the cinemas and their influence internationally.

Senses of CInema is a great choice I think - wonderfully diverse in its pursuits of film, scholarship, and current exhibition of film and media. Maybe because it is based in a different hemisphere (Australia, yes?) it feels more varied than most US - based publications. Or that is to say it frequently introduces me to new makers, new areas of study.
I'd be sure to check out the Festival reports and reviews. They can offer a helpful window to current media practices and pursuits.(and one on the current ones is written by a former student on UWM!)
